Description - Memorial Park

Memorial Park located in downtown Independence is the flagship park operated by the City of Independence. It is over 26 acres in size and is conveniently located near the Independence town center. Memorial Park is the most widely used park in the Independence city park system. Memorial Park is managed by the City of Independence. The park is home to many city activities such as the annual 4th of July Celebration, Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Party in the Park, Family Fun Nights, and various other parks and recreation activities. The Donna Yeager Amphitheater is also located here. The amphitheater is used for local concerts, family movie nights, and events during city celebrations.

Memorial Park does not have a dog run. Please clean up after your pet if you bring them to the park.


What is there to do in Memorial Park?

There are many activities available in Memorial Park. All activities in the park are family friendly and offer off-street parking. There is a football field, basketball courts, dinosaur playground, a hiking trail, track, and several other amenities. Memorial Park is a family friendly park and is open year-round.

Restrooms are open seasonally. There is one large shelter with grills and water fountains available for rent. Picnic tables and park benches are available.

Where is Memorial Park?

Memorial Park is located at 2001 Jack Woods Parkway. It is located directly behind the city building off of Madison Pike. The Independence Senior and Community Center is at the entrance to the park. Parking is open on either side of the building. Memorial Park also includes the basketball courts located behind the Independence police station.

 


Can I Rent the Shelter at Memorial Park?

The shelter at Memorial Park can be rented on a first come - first served basis. Details and scheduling for the park can be made by contacting the city directly at (859) 356-5302.
